Cables for Thermocouple and RTD

The cables for temperature sensors are the heart of instruments that measure temperature because they are the ones that form the circuit that determines the difference in potential (thermocouple) or transmit the electrical signal (RTD), which then in both cases the measuring instruments convert into the temperature reading.

  • Thermocouple grade cable: uses class 1 or ASTM E230 special limit thermocouple conductors up to 1200°C.
  • Extension grade cables: uses conductors with the same nominal composition of the thermocouple cable to which they are connected, but with wider tolerances. They are identified with the letter “X”, in accordance with DIN IEC 60584, which appears next to the letter code that identifies the thermocouple. They are normally tested at a temperature range of 0 °C – 200 °C.  We provide extension cable types: Ex, Kx, Jx, Nx, Tx.
  • Compensating grade: uses conductors that have the same temperature-emf characteristics as the thermocouple but a different nominal composition. They are identified with the letter “C”, in accordance with DIN IEC 60584. The letter “C” appears next to the letter code that identifies the thermocouple.  We provide compensating cable types: Bc, Kca, Nc,  R/Scb.
